International launch of “SCALE – A TEXtiles Collection by Hadi Teherani” in the design cities London, Vienna and Zurich
Vorwerk Teppichwerke is setting off on new paths with the collections SCALE and FreeSCALE by
Hadi Teherani. An international architecture and design audience was able to experience these
innovative textile tiles for the first time in London, Vienna and Zurich.

– The Vorwerk carpet tiles SCALE and FreeSCALE by Hadi Teherani open up new horizons in interior design. Whether in form, function or design, they break with the convention of standard shapes for tiles and present new formats: in FreeSCALE, all the way to thrilling freestyle forms without right angles. With its 5 element sizes, 130 colours and 8 motifs, the SCALE collection alone offers architects and interior designers a modular construction kit of shapes for innumerable creative tilings.
100% Design: Setting the stage for SCALE and FreeSCALE
At the 100% Design exposition in London, worldwide one of the most important trend shows for pioneering manufacturers in the field of interiors at which only selected exhibitors present their products, Vorwerk promptly devoted an entire booth to the trailblazing tiles SCALE and FreeSCALE. Hamburg architect Hadi Teherani designed the unusual trade-fair booth.
The booth consists of a black box open on one of two sides. One half of the floor is laid with SCALE, the other with FreeSCALE. A table for samples is located in the centre. The star attraction: Teherani installed table-high mirrors on the side walls and in the centre to optically magnify the booth’s compact, pre-defined dimensions, and thus demonstrate the spatial impact of these textile tiles on a larger scale. As a result the Vorwerk booth served not only to purely exhibit products but became an exposition highlight and aesthetic experience all in one.
SCALE and FreeSCALE conquer London
Yet another highlight during the London design festival was a lecture given by Hadi Teherani at the Interstuhl showroom to which international architects, planners and journalists had been invited. Teherani utilised presentation islands to introduce a delighted audience to extraordinary design concepts using SCALE and Free SCALE. The concepts are co-ordinated particularly well to match the needs of modern architecture, and are therefore intended to inspire both architects and designers to experiment with the new Vorwerk tiles.
Teherani on tour with SCALE in Vienna and Zurich
Vorwerk brought the attention of creative designers once again to these carpet tiles in another strategic design metropolis: this time in Vienna. At the recently inaugurated Vorwerk showroom “archithema” in Vienna, a forum for communication and advisory consulting revolving around possibilities for textile interior design in co-operation with the manufacturers Winter Creation and Wohntex, architect Hadi Teherani presented the SCALE concept using presentation panels. In the course of a dialogue with leading Austrian architects, Teherani demonstrated and discussed methods and options for enacting projects using SCALE and FreeSCALE.
A further theme evening for architects, planners and interior designers is going to take place in November at the Interstuhl showroom in Zurich, topping off the activities towards the international launch of the SCALE carpet-tile concept for the time being.
